Citrus is the heart of Holly Hill Fruit Products, Inc. The company was founded in 1927 by a group of far-sighted men who saw a good future for the development of the company in the beautiful hilly area of Central Florida. Following a very large harvest—too large to be handled efficiently with current packing facilities, the company’s first packing house was envisioned and completed in 1929. In 1949 the company formed Ridge Citrus Concentrate, Inc. and began packing for Minute Maid.
Holly Hill has been the primary employer in the small down of Davenport since its inception. For the cost of $1 per month, medical services were originally offered to company employees and their families.
